Walking in a lemon wonderland…🎶🍋

With construction of mixed-use development ‘Manhattan West’ underway, Brookfield Properties had a choice: install your typical scaffolding and safety sheds to protect passers-by or transform the area into a playful yet elegant lemon grove to disguise construction and transport visitors from the city to a magical citrus garden dream!

They chose the latter.

Enter Citrovia, a whimsical lemon grove featuring more than 700 handcrafted plaster lemons, 19-foot-tall citrus trees, and billowing fabrics meant to mimic clouds at sunrise and sunset. Described as “larger-than-life and stranger-than-fiction,” this fantastical lemon grove on the west side of the city even has its own custom citrus scent wafting through the trees!

Designed and executed by hand by Adirondack Studios (the same group responsible for attractions at Disney), this 30,000-square-foot, Willy Wonka meets Dr. Seuss installation is completely free and un-ticketed. To find the entrance, simply look for the 1,000-pound lemon on 9th Avenue between 31st and 33rd Streets!
