Guava, coconut, lime, and Tequila make for a delicious combination in this super fresh Coconut Guava Margarita recipe that you can whip up at home!

A pink-colored cocktail displayed in a rocks glass filled with ice, garnished with a lime wheel, resting on a wooden coaster with fresh guavas in front of the drink and a small cactus behind it

Growing up in my family, waste was not allowed. If you poured it, you drank it. If you made it, you ate it. And when there were random bits and bobs remaining in the pantry or fridge that needed to be used up, my mom figured out a way to make something delicious out of them so that nothing went in the trash! Food is a love language in my family, and learning to both respect food and appreciate our access to it was a big part of understanding that love language.

That is still my approach to food today, so even though I mentioned last week that I wasn’t the biggest fan of that carton of guavas I bought, I wasn’t going to let them go to waste! And using them in cocktails is the perfect way to highlight what I like about them while kind of disguising what I don’t.

So today I give you a Coconut Guava Margarita. Coconut and guava are already a natural match made in heaven, but for me, coconut + ____ (fill in the blank with your favorite fruit) is pretty much guaranteed to be a winning combination in a Margarita! And this one is no exception. One warning, though: this Margarita is extremely chuggable!

Coconut Guava Margarita

Guava, coconut, lime, and Tequila make for a delicious combination in this super fresh Coconut Guava Margarita recipe that you can whip up at home!

Yields:

1 Drink

Ingredients:

2 oz Blanco Tequila

1 oz LimeJuice

2 oz Guava Nectar

1 Small Guava, quartered

1 oz Cream of Coconut

1 oz Coconut Milk

Garnish: Lime Wheel and/or Guava Slice

Instructions:

Add guava and lime juice to a cocktail shaker and muddle together. Add remaining ingredients and shake with ice until cold. Double strain into a glass of your choice filled with ice and garnish.

Recipe Notes:

🥥 Margarita lovers will notice that there is no orange liqueur in this recipe and that is on purpose. I tried it with Cointreau, but found that even just ¼ oz overwhelmed the coconut-guava flavor.

🥥 There is also no simple syrup because for me, this drink is plenty sweet without it. Feel free to add a touch if you'd like, but I recommend starting with just ¼ oz and work your way up from there.

🥥 If you don’t have fresh guava on hand to muddle into the drink, no problem! I tried it with it and without it and it’s equally delicious both ways!
