Peaches + Bourbon = Happiness in a glass! This twist on a classic Old Fashioned recipe will happily take you straight from Summer into Fall.

Remember those peaches I was grilling over the weekend? Well, if you guessed that I was using them for something cocktail related then you have come to know me well!

Since I refuse to accept that peach season has come to an end, I'm holding on to it for as long as I possibly can! And since nothing says “Fall” quite like an Old Fashioned, I've decided to marry the two.

Georgia peaches are a thing of beauty (we are called the Peach State after all), and grilling them gives them a caramel note that pairs perfectly with the sweetness in Bourbon. So after slicing and grilling the peaches, I popped them into some Bourbon and let it infuse with the fruit for about 5 days.

And y'all, it's GOOD. Like, really good.

The flavor of the Bourbon is super delicious on its own, so I really wanted it to be the star of this Old Fashioned. To complement it, I used just a touch of demerara syrup to give it a toasty note, some dark walnut bitters to balance the sweetness, and a single dash of peach bitters to enhance its overall peachiness. The end result is an Old Fashioned that's bound to make you feel all warm and peachy inside! (I couldn't help myself.)

Grilled Peach Old Fashioned

Peaches + Bourbon = Happiness in a glass! This twist on a classic Old Fashioned recipe will happily take you straight from Summer into Fall.

Yields:

1 Drink

Ingredients:

2 ¼ oz Bourbon

¼ oz Demerara Syrup

2 Dashes Dark Walnut Bitters

1 Dash Peach Bitters

Garnish: Grilled Peach Slice

Instructions:

Combine all ingredients in a mixing glass with ice and stir to combine. Strain into a rocks glass over a large cube of ice and garnish with a grilled peach slice.

Recipe Note:

The sugar in the peaches adds some sweetness to the Bourbon, so I used less demerara syrup in this than I do in a traditional Old Fashioned. I like a boozier, less sweet cocktail, so as always, adjust the syrup amount to suit your taste!
