It’s been six years since I first visited New Zealand, yet my love for the country is still going strong.

How do you explain the unexplainable?

It’s been nearly six years since I first stepped foot in New Zealand and I still can’t quite explain why I feel connected to the country as I do.

Unlike NYC and Sicily – the two other places to which I felt an instant bond – I have no family ties or family history that connect me to it. I didn’t learn about New Zealand growing up. I didn’t have any friends or family who had ever been there. And for much of my life, I honestly didn’t know exactly where it was! Other than somewhere “over there”…you know, close to Australia. 😆

Yet, the connection I feel to NZ is undeniable. And the only explanation I’ve come up with is that I simply fell in love at first sight with NZ the same way you do with a person. There’s no reason for it. It doesn’t at all make sense. It just happens and suddenly you feel like you’re home.

Has anything like this ever happened to you?
