The key lime Gods have blessed me with a beautiful crop of mouthwatering citrus, but now I need help deciding how to make the best use of them!

Yes, this is just a photo of a big bowl of key limes.

BUT, these are not just any key limes. They are my very first crop of key limes EVER!!!

Now those of you with green thumbs likely won’t be all that impressed. Nor will many of my NZ friends who pretty much grow every damn thing they eat. But this is an exciting day for this city girl who has never grown a thing in her life! Especially because I wasn’t even expecting a crop this year since my tree was just planted in April. But the key lime Gods have blessed me with a beautiful, year 1 bounty, and I’m not gonna lie, I’m as giddy as a schoolgirl about picking fresh fruit off of my own tree!

They’ve been ripening slowly, but I now finally have enough key limes to turn them into some yummy treats! And when I posed the question on social media as to what I should make with them, the most popular suggestions were:

➡ Cocktails (y’all know me well)

➡ Key Lime Pie (would be sacrilegious as a southerner not to)

➡ Key Lime Sorbet (ice cream/sorbet maker has been purchased!)

I am 100% going to make all of the above, but what else should I use them for?!? The key limes keep coming and I intend to make use of every last one, so tell me in the comments below what key lime recipes you want me to make and to share!

There's nothing better than home grown fruit straight off the tree!
