In case you couldn’t tell, I love New York City. 🍎🗽🚕
Ever since the first time I visited the Big Apple as a little girl, it felt like home. There was just something about the city that made me feel like I belonged and that my perspective on the world made sense. And I’ll never forget being 13 years old and my mom letting me walk down the street to the bodega all on my own – that’s when I knew it would be my home one day. I had never before felt such independence and freedom, and to live in a place where you could be whoever you wanted to be and think however you wanted to think without fear of being judged was something I longed for.
So moving to New York after grad school was essentially a childhood dream come true. And the nearly 15 years I lived there was the most life changing chapter in my life. NYC is the city where I developed a true sense of self, and is a city that will forever own a piece of my heart.
I get asked all the time if I miss it or if I regret leaving. And the answer is YES, I miss it all the time. But NO, I do not regret leaving. Because I left NYC to follow my heart to New Zealand, and that changed my life in an entirely different way.
But I will forever love New York. And I will forever cherish any time I spend there. And I will forever be grateful to have lived in what I consider to be the best city in the world! ❤
