Are you a fan of pumpkin?

I LOVE it, and I love it in any which way I can get it. Be it in savories like soups and pastas, in sweets like pies and cakes, or in drinks like coffees, teas, and cocktails, pumpkin is one of my favorite flavors of Fall. Especially in the form of anything pumpkin spice!

So to fulfill my yearly task of coming up with a drink to sip on before Thanksgiving dinner, I decided to combine one of my favorite drinks with one of my favorite Fall flavors to create this Pumpkin Spice Old Fashioned! Simple in presentation yet full of flavor, this seasonal riff on a classic favorite tastes like Thanksgiving in a glass.

But the best part is that the syrup I created for this cocktail can be used in anything you like with a bit of pumpkin spice. It took me a couple of tries to get it right, but I think this recipe strikes the perfect balance between sweetness and spice!

And for those of you who live where Pumpkin Spice is not a thing, you can make your own by combining 3 tablespoons ground cinnamon, 2 teaspoons ground ginger, 2 teaspoons ground nutmeg, 1 teaspoon ground cloves, 1 teaspoon ground allspice, and a tiny pinch of ground black pepper!
