Are you a fan of Chartreuse?
I have to admit that I was late joining in on the cocktail world's love affair with Chartreuse. And it's because years ago when it first hit the scene in NYC, the first drink I ever ordered with Green Chartreuse as the "star" was so awful that it ruined the taste of it for me for a very long time.
In the years since that initial craze, when everyone and their brother were trying to create fancy Green and Yellow Chartreuse concoctions, this Carthusian Monk-made liqueur is thankfully much better understood and utilized. And since I do believe in second chances, I eventually came back to it and now very much enjoy it in a well-crafted drink. But Chartreuse isn't something I keep stocked at home, so I don't have a lot of experience making drinks with it myself. However, the more recipes I come across that call for it, the more interested I am in learning how to use it in my own creations.
If you're not familiar with Chartreuse, this adaptation of a classic Chartreuse Swizzle from @boozy.brunette is a great intro to the green version of this liqueur. Herbacious, a little spicy, and a touch sweet, Chartreuse marries well with both the tropical and bitter notes in this drink, which would make a great sipper on a hot day!
Thank you to Jess for this yummy recipe and lovely photo.
