If you're on the hunt for a festive, easy to make holiday cocktail, a classic Rum Flip is the perfect option! Creamy and delicious, the grated nutmeg gives it a bit of holiday flair while the combination of Rum and egg makes it a tasty alternative for those who aren't keen on traditional eggnog.
COCKTAIL: Rum Flip
2 oz Blended Aged Rum
1/4 oz Demerara Syrup
1 Medium Egg
Garnish: Freshly Grated Nutmeg
Combine ingredients in a cocktail shaker and dry shake without ice for 10 seconds. Add a large ice cube to the shaker and shake well for an additional 8-10 seconds. Double strain into a chilled coupe and garnish with freshly grated nutmeg.
RECIPE TIP: Make your own demerara syrup the same way you make traditional simple syrup, just swap out white sugar for demerara or turbinado sugar! The difference between the two is that demerara syrup adds a richer, almost caramel-like flavor to cocktails, which is popular in tropical drinks.
