A savory and sweet Rum cocktail recipe that's sure to make you think!

Are you an adventurous drinker or do you prefer to stick to the classics?
Personally, I like it all. Although I haven't shared a lot about my own mixology background, I spent years working behind a bar and have spent even more years studying and learning about cocktails, so whether it's a classic cocktail or a concoction made with ingredients I could never fathom being mixed together in the same glass, I have a deep appreciation for a well-crafted drink. But what I choose to drink depends on my mood, so I like to have quick and easy recipes with familiar flavors in my repetoire as much as I do ones that are more unusual and that make me think.
This recipe for the Venceremos (meaning “We Will Overcome” in Spanish) falls into that latter category. Created by Gn Chan and photographed beautifully by @alan_home_bartender_, Chan brings together familiar flavors in a deliciously unfamiliar way. And this concoction is so good that it won Chan the 2016 Bacardi Legacy Global Cocktail Competition -- think of it as a Piña Colada with a very unique twist!
45 ml (1 1/2 oz) Light Rum
15 ml (1/2 oz) Coconut Rum
25 ml (5/6 oz) Fresh Pineapple Juice
15 ml (1/2 oz) Fresh Cucumber Juice
5 ml (1/6 oz) Fresh Lime Juice
Dash of Sesame Oil
Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake and strain into a glass of your choice. (Can be served up or over ice.) Garnish with a pineapple leaf.
