The countdown to Christmas is on, and this seasonal twist on a classic French 75 recipe is sure to get you in the holiday spirit!
FOR THE COCKTAIL:
1 oz Gin
½ oz Fresh Lemon Juice
¾ oz Spiced Cranberry Syrup
3-4 oz Sparkling Wine
Garnish: Cranberries and a Lemon Twist
FOR THE CRANBERRY SYRUP:
2 cups Cranberries
1 ¼ cup (+ a bit more if needed) Water
1 ¼ cup Dark Brown Sugar
1 teaspoon Freshly Grated Orange Zest
2 Cinnamon Sticks
½ teaspoon Ground Nutmeg
¼ teaspoon Ground Ginger
Small Pinch Ground Cloves
FOR THE COCKTAIL:
Combine Gin, lemon juice, and cranberry syrup in a cocktail shaker filled with ice and shake until cold. Strain into a coupe glass and top with sparkling wine. Garnish with cranberries and a lemon twist.
FOR THE CRANBERRY SYRUP:
Combine all ingredients in a small saucepan and bring to a boil, stirring occasionally to dissolve the sugar. As the cranberries soften, use the back of wooden spoon and press them against the side of the pan to release their juices. Simmer for about 10 minutes, add a touch more water if mixture is too thick, and remove from the heat. Let steep for about 10 more minutes and then strain through a fine mesh sieve. The syrup will be thick, so allow time to strain completely. Let it come to room temperature or place in the fridge to cool off before using in your cocktail.
