Description

Don your big hats and gingham and get ready for race day with this classic Mint Julep recipe straight from the Kentucky Derby itself!


Ingredients

  • 3 oz Old Forester Mint Julep
  • ¾ oz Simple Syrup
  • 8-10 mint leaves
  • Garnish: 3 sprigs of fresh mint


Instructions

  • Pack a Mint Julep cup with crushed ice.
  • In a mixing glass, combine Bourbon, simple syrup, and mint leaves.
  • Lightly bruise mint leaves with a muddler and then strain contents into the Julep cup.
  • Garnish with 3 generous sprigs of mint. Make sure to slap the mint before garnishing and insert a straw into the ice near the mint so you get the full mint + Bourbon effect!
