Description

These peanut butter pumpkin dog treats are made with just four ingredients and bake up crunchy, flavorful, and pup-approved. They’re a simple, wholesome snack your dog will love!

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup pumpkin purée
  • 3 large eggs
  • 5 tablespoons natural peanut butter (xylitol-free, no added sugar or salt)
  • 3 cups whole wheat flour

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350° F (175° C)
  • In a large bowl, mix together the pumpkin, eggs, and peanut butter until smooth and creamy.
  • Add the flour and stir until a thick, workable dough forms. Use your hands if needed  I find it a lot easier!
  • Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and press firmly into silicone molds. Don’t overfill them as the treats will puff up slightly as they bake.
  • Place the filled molds on a baking sheet and bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until the tops are lightly golden and the treats feel firm.
  • Let cool on a wire rack for 10 to 15 minutes. Once cool enough to handle, remove the treats from the molds and let them come to room temperature before giving a treat to your doggie.

Notes

  • Use natural peanut butter with no xylitol, added sugar, or salt. Xylitol is toxic to dogs, and excess salt or sugar isn’t healthy for them either.
  • Avoid using all-purpose flour, which lacks nutritional value and may be harder for dogs to digest.
  • If your dog is sensitive to wheat, you can substitute oat flour or brown rice flour. Since these absorb moisture differently, you might need to add more pumpkin or a splash of water if the dough feels too dry.
  • If you don’t have silicone molds, cookie cutters work great too. Roll the dough on a lightly floured surface, cut your shapes, and bake them on a parchment-lined baking sheet just like regular cookies.
