- 1 1/4 cup (+ a bit more if needed) Water
- 1 1/4 cup Dark Brown Sugar
- 1 teaspoon Freshly Grated Orange Zest
- 2 Cinnamon Sticks
- 1/2 teaspoon Ground Nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon Ground Ginger
- small pinch Ground Cloves
Instructions
FOR THE COCKTAIL:
- Combine Gin, lemon juice, and cranberry syrup in a cocktail shaker filled with ice and shake until cold.
- Strain into a coupe glass and top with sparkling wine.
- Garnish with cranberries and a lemon twist.
FOR THE CRANBERRY SYRUP:
- Combine all ingredients in a small saucepan and bring to a boil, stirring occasionally to dissolve the sugar.
- As the cranberries soften, use the back of a wooden spoon and press them against the side of the pan to release their juices.
- Simmer for about 10 minutes, adding a touch more water if the mixture is too thick, and remove from the heat.
- Let steep for about 10 more minutes and then strain through a fine mesh sieve. The syrup will be thick, so allow time to strain completely.
- Let it come to room temperature or place it in the fridge to cool off before using it in your cocktail.
