Combine the Vodka and orange juice in a cocktail shaker without ice and shake thoroughly.

Pour the grenadine syrup into the bottom of a tall highball glass.

Fill the glass with ice cubes carefully.

Pour the Vodka and orange juice mixture into the glass but do not stir the drink! As the orange juice and grenadine mix together slightly, they will create a beautiful gradient effect resembling the colors of a sunrise.

Garnish the cocktail with an orange slice and a maraschino cherry.
