Description
Spice up your 4th of July BBQs with this patriotic red, white, and blue cocktail! This Watermelon Blueberry Margarita is a perfect July 4th recipe and one that will keep you cool and refreshed all summer long.
Ingredients
- 2 oz Tequila
- ¼ oz Cointreau
- 1 oz Lime Juice
- ¼ oz Blueberry Simple Syrup
- 6 oz Watermelon Juice
- 1 sprig Mint
- Garnish: Blueberries and Mint
Instructions
- Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker filled with ice and shake until cold.
- Strain into a cocktail glass filled with ice and garnish with blueberries and mint.
- Make sure to first give your mint a nice, hard smack between your palms to release its aromas!
Notes
- To make the watermelon juice, simply puree fresh watermelon in a blender until it’s in liquid form! You can then strain out the solids or not, it’s completely up to you. I strained mine.
- It takes about 1 ½ – 1 ¾ cups of fresh watermelon to equal 6 oz of strained juice. If you’re not straining your juice it will yield more.
- The mint that gets shaken into the drink is to add a bit of freshness. No need to muddle it unless you want to.
- If you don’t want to make blueberry simple syrup, agave is the best substitute! I think regular simple syrup is too sweet.
- Feel free to throw some blueberries into the drink (muddled or not) as well if you want more blueberry flavor!
