Until recently, Greenville, SC agritourism wasn’t even on my radar. Which is surprising, considering I’m the kind of traveler who actively seeks out food, farm, and hands-on experiences wherever I go.
Long before agritourism had a name, I was the traveler who wanted to meet the cheesemaker, walk the orchard with the farmer, and understand how grapes in a vineyard became the wine in my glass. Because for me, it’s never been about novelty — it’s about connecting to a place by getting to know the people who shape it, the land that sustains it, and the traditions that carry it forward.
That’s why my recent trip to Greenville completely took me by surprise. Despite growing up less than two hours away, I knew very little about the city. And I certainly didn’t expect to find a community where growers, chefs, and artisans aren’t just present, but play an integral role in defining Greenville’s identity.
